History of the Company Kern
1936: The company's founder Peter Kern acquires the firm.
1945: In the last days of the war a fire destroys the firm. Reconstruction after the war.
1954: The Wertheim Company completes the mechanisation of the firm and the first fully mechanised frame sawmill (Pini & Kay-Gatter) in Austria starts working.
1968: Cutting volume 13.000 cubic meters of timber/year.
June  1970: A flood causes great damages to the firm.
29.12.1972 Foundation of K. u. P. Kern KG.
1976: Cutting volume 20.000 cubic meters/year.
1985: Installation of an automatic edger unit.
1990: Cutting volume 50.000 cubic meters timber/year. Installation  of a circular resaw.
August 1994: A flood causes great damages to the firm
1997: Cutting volume 80.000 cubic meters timber/year.
04.02.1998: A fire destroys the sawing shed and partly the adjacent production hall.
20. 12. 1998: The first cutting sample is carried out with the newly installed log bandsaw from the company EWD (system: Tandem). The new equipment allows the company to specialise in cutting large dimension timber. The plant now cuts fir, spruce, pine and larch logs.
